Wednesday April 14th

Good morning parents,
Just a quick recap of todays class. Today we reviewed the two pages in their Readers Notebook that they had for homework pgs. 142 and 143. We again talked about combining two short sentences using a comma and and to create a compound sentence. We also covered contractions, combining two words to create one short word. We also reviewed the vowel sounds /oi/, /au/. Students were also introduced to contractions with pronouns, again please reiterate that a pronoun takes the place a noun. Lastly, we reviewed for our chapter 10 math test which has been uploaded to k6.ThinkCentral. Please complete the test by this Friday. For language arts please have students complete pgs. 144,147, and148. Have a great day. Once again thank you for your support and understanding.
Best,
Jesus

Tuesday April 14th

Good morning parents,
Thank you again for logging into our zoom meeting. Here is a recap of what we covered this morning. We covered sentences of different lengths. For example, you combine two short sentences and make a longer one utilizing a comma and and (Compound Sentence). We also discussed contractions. For instance, you take two words and you make a shorter word, is not- isn't. Make sure the students understand that there must be an apostrophe in place. The homework for language arts are pgs 142-143 in their READERS NOTEBOOK, which they should have. We also did a second reading of "The New Friend." For math we went over lesson 10.7 Representing Data. We learned how to fill in a bar graph on our math on the spot video. Once again parents thank you so much for your support. Again the homework is to be completed in K6ThinkCentral. Thank you and have a great day.
Best,
Jesus

Monday April 13th

Good morning parents,
It was a pleasure to see all of you this morning. Today we began lesson 25 in Language Arts and the students were introduced to a new story titled, "The New Friend." Also, our students were introduced to their new High-frequency words and spelling words which I will place here so you can practice them: High Frequency Words buy, city, family, myself, party, please, school, seven. These are their spelling words how, now, cow, owl, ouch, house, found, out, gown, town. Please remember to tell your child that these spelling words have the sound of /ou/. We also covered making tally charts and marks in lesson 10.6 in our math books. Homework can be found on thinkcentral and I have also assigned some practice on IXL for math and reading. The lessons for math are under o3 and o4and the practice for reading can be found in 03,04, and oo1. Parents once again it was a pleasure to see you this morning and again thank you for your understanding, patience, and continuous support. Have a great rest of your day.

April 10th, 2020

Today was another fantastic day filled with tech problems and silly faces! Hopefully you were able to bear through the issues and have a great day. Our homework today is as follows:
Log into Think Central and complete the three new assignments
Lesson 23 Test
Lesson 24 Test

All of these tests came from work done over the independent study, so you are absolutely allowed to use the tests you have already done to fill in the answers. If you want an extra challenge, try to do it without the notes and see the score that you can get!
Have fun in PE and Art and I will see everybody once again Monday at 9am. I hope everybody has a wonderful weekend. Stay inside, don't touch your face, and practice social distancing!
Best,
Mr. Jesus

March 13th Class Update

Good afternoon parents,
Due to the unforeseen circumstances school will closed for a period of three weeks from March 16th up to April 3 returning back to classes on Monday April the 6th. Your child has been provided with adequate school work so they may complete it  over a two week period. The third week will be replacing our original dates for spring break. I have included a attached PDF file of the letter that we sent out notifying parents of all the relevant information pertaining to our school calendar. Parents please, these three weeks are NOT to be considered as vacation. Your child has work and a total of four tests that must be completed and will be graded upon returning to school. These grades will be included in their report cards. In their backpacks you will find lessons 23 and 24 for language arts and the corresponding workbook pages that must be completed are circled. Also, you will find two packets that go with each individual lesson that must be completed. Next, you will also find math lessons from the remainder of chapter 9 and also all of chapter 10. Parents please be aware that your child must complete one math lesson per day NO MORE. The tests for the math will be found at the end of each chapter. I will be checking in periodically throughout the weeks to confirm that the work is being completed and also to offer any support that may be needed. Thank you.
