Parents, 

We are winding down our last little bit of teaching with your first grade kiddos! What a year this has been. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your love and support for not only your child, but for our school. Key Academy is so blessed to have family like you! Please know I am here for you if you need any last minute questions answered for the next few weeks. We are almost there!!!!! 

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. Next week is teacher appreciation week and to celebrate I thought it would be fun to do a spirit week with the kids!
Monday May 4th is Star Wars day. Dress up as your favorite Star Wars character
Tuesday May 5th is Cinco De Mayo celebrations! Wear your traditional Mexican heritage outfits if you have it
Wednesday May 6th is Disney Day! Dress up as your favorite Disney anything
Thursday May 7th is hero day. Dress as your hero in your life (you can even be a doctor or a mom who ever your hero is)
Friday May 8th is dress like a teacher day!!!! To celebrate your favorite teachers con dressed as one!

Parents, for our new chapter in math we are learning about 3D shapes! This Thursday I will allow the kiddos to bring 1 cube, 1 sphere, 1 cone, 1 pyramid, 1 rectangular prism and 1 cylinder. You can find lots of objects around the house. Examples would be a soup can for a cylinder, or a cardboard box for a cube, or an orange or soccer ball for a sphere. Only Thursday the kids can bring 1 of each if they have them to share.

Parents,

you can have your child bring 1 item for show and tell. It will be first thing at 9:15am lets start with some fun.

Tomorrow is SCIENCE!!!! I posted an assignment for parts of a plant for tomorrow. Please have the kids print or have paper ready for tomorrow's lesson for parts of a plant worksheet under the Science category in Google Classroom. The other two reading books are for the kids to do ONLY if you would like as extra. These are great reading books about plants and how they grow. The only assignment being graded is the parts of a plant worksheet. I also posted a fun celery project for the kids to do at home to show how water travels up the "roots and stalk/ stem" of a plant to provide food for the plant. This is not graded, just a fun activity for the kiddos this week.

Parents, Next Tuesday I will be teaching a mini lesson on plants and parts of a plant and how they grow. I did not add this to the powerpoint calendar when I was creating it, but April 22nd is Earth Day and I thought it would be fun for the kiddos to learn about plants. So please add this to the calendar for the kiddos next Tuesday April 21st

The art class for San Leandro Key Academy has changed from Friday 1-2pm to Thursday 1-2pm. The new day and time is Thursday's from 1-2pm. NO MORE FRIDAY FOR ART

For this week, we are going to dive into our weekly story and chapter 10 for math. Please follow the class calendar I created for the week. We are completing lesson 27 for language arts. Please have your child complete their readers note book for classwork and CH 10.1, 10.2, and 10.3 for Math. We will be learning about bar graphs and how to take data and out it into picture graphs and bar graphs. 

Parents please know I have sent out dates and times for parent conferences on Class DOJO. I still have Tuesday, a little Wednesday and a little Thursday. Please let me know a day and time that works for you.
