A quick recap of this mornings class for you guys. We started our last lesson in Language Arts today and will be reading Winners Never Quit. We will also focus on the main idea of the story and will talk about making summary's. Lesson thirty will also focus on spelling words with a consonant vowel pattern and adjectives to compare. We will also focus on prefixes this week. Remind your student that the prefix goes at the beginning of the base word. This week in math we will be completing chapter twelve. Thus, today's homework will cover 12.10 and it can be found in thinkcentral. Also, for Language Arts there homework can be found in IXL under BB2. A friendly reminder please complete the test for lesson 29 and today is Monday, so please logging your student to Spanish or Arabic. Thank you parents and have a great rest of your day.

Good morning parents,
Thank you for signing in this morning and participating in our online learning. I know that it can be challenging for the students to stay focused. But I really appreciate them logging on and trying there best. This morning the students were introduced to lesson twenty nine in Language Arts. This means that they have one lesson left in their textbooks, which puts them one step closer into reaching second grade. The lesson this morning introduced them to there new spelling words and high frequency words which you can find below. They were also introduced to adverbs and the following suffixes -ful, -ly, -y. The story that we will be focused on this week is titled "Hi, Fly Guy." For our math lesson we continued to work with our two dimensional shapes and they were introduced to lesson 12.7. Thus, homework for math will be posted on K6ThinkCentral under 12.7. For reading there homework can be found on IXL under BB 1, this will give them practice with suffixes. Good morning parents,
Once again thank you for logging on and participating in our online learning. Remember logging on every day is a big part of the students upcoming grades. Therefore, please ensure that they are logging on daily. A recap of todays class, we discussed adjectives for smell and taste and we reread our anchor story of the week. We also compared Frog and Toad the two characters of our story and discussed how they were the same and different. This exercise should help the students with their writing assignment that is due this Friday. In addition, we continued to talk about our story structure, which is what makes up a story, characters, setting, plot.
For math we continue to cover two dimensional shapes and how we can combine them to make new shapes. Parents once again thank you for your understanding and more than anything your continuous support. See you all tomorrow morning.

For example, please remind your students that the story structure is made up of CHARACTERS, the people and/or animals in a story. SETTING, when and where a story takes place and PLOT, the problem that the characters have and how they solve it. Students were also introduced to their new spelling words and high-frequency words. Also, please complete lesson 27 test if you have not done so it will be available until the end of today. Homework for today will be on IXL under ll3 practicing adjectives. Another good class. Thank you for logging on and participating. Today we worked in our Readers Notebook and reviewed base words ending in -er and -est. As well as changing the y at the end of a word into an I in order to ad the -er or -est. We also took a moment and read our anchor text of the week which is titled "What Can You Do?" Also, we continued to talk about telling sentences and asking sentences and the appropriate end mark that goes in each sentence.
Today we began chapter 12 in math and this is the last chapter in the lesson. This chapter will cover 2 dimensional shapes such as squares, triangles, circles, rectangles, rhombus. Good morning parents,
A quick recap of the work that we completed this morning. Today we began lesson 27 in language arts and students were introduced to their new high frequency words and spelling words. The story of the week is titled "What Can You Do?" Please practice the following words with your student throughout the week. Their High-Frequency words are always, different, enough, happy, high, near, once, and stories. Their spelling words are hard, harder, hardest, fast, faster, fastest, slow, slower, slowest, sooner. Remind students that each words has a base word and then we can add the different ending either -er or -est. Also, on some words remind them that in order to add the -er or -est they need to remove the Y and replace it with an I. For example, happy- happier, happiest. We also discussed the authors purpose. Students were also introduced to different kinds of sentences such as a telling sentence and an asking sentence. A telling sentence tells us something and a asking sentence asks us something.
For math we reviewed for our chapter test which I will post here shortly. Thus, homework for today is finishing there lesson 26 test if they have not done so and completing the math test. Parents have a great rest of your day and thank you for the support and understanding.

Another great class today. I loved how the students seemed to be working in their Readers Notebook, this is all due to your support. Thank you. Today we reviewed all the topics that we have been covering this week which are compare and contrast and figurative language as well as the exclamation mark. We also reviewed our words ending in in -ed and -ing, as well as the long e sound in -y and -ie. For math we completed lesson 11.4 and continued to work with our three dimensional shapes. Thank you again for logging on it truly is a pleasure seeing all the students. Today we covered words with the long e spelling pattern
-Y, -ie. For example, field, parties, hurried. We continued to work and discussed compare and contrast and figurative language as well, this will help them for the test on Friday. For math students were introduced to lesson 11.3 and this covered combining three dimensional shapes. Please remind your child of the three dimensional shapes sphere, cube, cone, cylinder, and rectangular prism. Their homework for today will consist of a short writing assignment which will be posted to K6thinkcentral and also their math lesson 11.3 all of which is due by this Friday April 24th, 2020. Just a quick update of todays class. Students were introduced to chapter eleven in math and they will be learning about three dimensional shapes. It was a pleasure to see all of you this morning. Today we began lesson 25 in Language Arts and the students were introduced to a new story titled, "The New Friend." Also, our students were introduced to their new High-frequency words and spelling words which I will place here so you can practice them: High Frequency Words buy, city, family, myself, party, please, school, seven. These are their spelling words how, now, cow, owl, ouch, house, found, out, gown, town. Please remember to tell your child that these spelling words have the sound of /ou/. We also covered making tally charts and marks in lesson 10.6 in our math books. Homework can be found on thinkcentral and I have also assigned some practice on IXL for math and reading. The lessons for math are under o3 and o4and the practice for reading can be found in 03,04, and oo1.
