Good morning!

Here’s your assignment for today:

 

Math Review Test. I was in a rush when I was making copies and made the wrong chapter test for you guys for Chapter 9, so we will do the review test and count is as your chapter test grade. If you have any questions as you’re taking it, please contact me and I will walk you through the questions you are struggling with, You may use your books.

 

Read The Birchbark House on pgs. 668-679 in your Journey’s book.

 

Reader’s Notebook pgs. 315-317.

 

Read Social Studies pgs. 190-192 and complete Interactive Notebook pg. 81 section 14.4 and 14.5 only.

 

Read 30 minutes. IXL- practice the starred items for 20 minutes.

Monday, March 16th Assignment

Good morning!

Here’s your assignment for today:

 

Math lesson 9.7 pgs. 415-418

Reader’s Notebook pgs. 319-320

Language Arts Vocabulary: textbook pgs. 664-665. Look up words in your book’s glossary.

Read 30 minutes. IXL- practice the starred items for 20 minutes if you can.

If you have work to do on your President book, you can work on that also. 

 

For the Math lesson, students are encouraged to follow the lesson on ThinkCentral, the website that we use for Math. The Interactive Student Edition teaches the lesson and lets the students answer the questions as they go.

 

Another video that goes through the lesson can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llcclwUN42o but my suggestion is to go through ThinkCentral first.

 

Please let me know if you have any questions at all. If you’re going through your Math pages and want me to check how you’re doing, you can send me the answers to some of the Share and Show and On Your Own problems and see how you’re doing. Same for your Readers Notebook pages.

Chapter 8 Math Test

Chapter 8 in Math is very short, so we will be finishing up the chapter soon. We will take the Chapter Test on Tuesday, March 3rd. There will be no Math homework that day.

No Math Homework 2/20

Students had their Chapter 7 Math Test today so there is no Math homework tonight. They still have Reading and Spelling.

Chapter 7 Math Test

Tomorrow (February 20th) we will have our Math Test for Chapter 7. Chapter 7 was all about multiplying fractions and mixed numbers. Students will bring a review test for homework.

On Thursday, February 13th students that received a class list will be allowed to bring in Valentines for the class to be passed out towards the end of the day. If students bring Valentines, they must bring in one for each student. There are several 5th graders who did not receive this paper today because of classroom behavior, and should be working hard to earn it as the week goes on. 

Chapter 6 Math Test

Tomorrow, January 30, we are having our Math Test on Chapter 6. Chapter 6 was all about adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. Students will have a review test to take home and study. Students should practice finding a common denominator and writing equivalent fractions to prepare for their test. IXL is great for practice on these skills.

Math Extra Credit Homework

If students go on IXL and spend at least 15 minutes of time outside of class practicing the skills with a gold star, I will give them extra credit points for Math.

Math and Social Studies Tests

Tomorrow, December 18th, students will take their Chapter 5 Math Test and their Chapter 9 Social Studies test.

Multicultural Day Potluck

Multicultural Day is Thursday, December 19th. We will be having a potluck after the performances on that day in our classroom. Students are welcome to bring a dish from their culture to share with the class. Please label ingredients in any dishes you bring as we have many food allergies in our class and want to make it a safe and fun event for everybody. Parents are welcome to join us for the performances in the cafeteria and the potluck after.

Chapter 4 Math Test

Students will have their test on Chapter 4 in Math on Thursday, November 21st.

No Spelling Homework

This week, (week of November 12th) and next week there will be no Spelling Homework. Students will still have Reading Logs and Language Arts homework, but their homework will be related to Hound Dog True, the book that we are reading.

Persuasive Essay

We are writing a persuasive essay in class. We started the rough draft today and will finish it in class tomorrow, October 31st. The final draft will be due Wednesday, November 6th. It should be 5 paragraphs.

Book Orders

November book orders are going home today and are due this Friday, November 1st. If you'd like to order online, you can go to scholastic.com/bookclubs and enter our class code NDFZN and order your books that way. Ordering books helps us get free books for our classroom library, and helps students to get excited about reading!
