week of 10/2

Good afternoon,

This week in Language Arts we are working on r-controlled vowels, making and confirming predictions, Greek and Latin Roots, and text structure in an informational text. Students can use any ELA IXL skill with a star to help the review at home.

In Math we are working on finishing up the division chapter: we will take the Chapter 2 test on Thursday. Chapter 2 was all about division.

I've gotten quite a few questions about how students can improve their grades, which I really appreciate! I have made packets of missing Math homework for any student who has anything missing. If your child does not come home with a reteach packet, it means they have turned in all of their Math homework. I have also told students that they can make test corrections on any Math, Science, or Social Studies test or quiz. If they make test corrections it has to be in a different color so that I can see their corrected answers easily. I do not do test corrections on Spelling or Vocabulary tests because we correct them together. Students have until October 12th to give me any missing or makeup work so that I get a chance to put it in the grade book. I will not take any points off for late work, I want them to have as much or a chance to raise their grades as possible.

A huge THANK YOU to all students and families who donated towards our Fall Festival raffle basket. We can't wait to see how all the baskets turn out on Fall Festival.

There is no school for students on Monday. October 9th it is a teacher in-service.
