Good morning,

 

This week in Language Arts we are working on plural nouns, suffixes-full, -less, -ness, and -ment, r-controlled vowels, context clues, theme, and author's purpose. We will also be writing poems this week for our benchmark writing assessment. A benchmark writing assessment is when we have the students write at the beginning of the school year and compare their beginning of the year writing to their end of the year writing.

 

Here's some IXL skills that may be helpful this week:

Poetry: L.2, N.3, GG.1

Suffixes: Y.6, Y.7

Frequently confused words: W.1

 

In Math we are continuing with division. Students will take the mid-chapter quiz in class today; we will review before they take their quiz. Their homework tonight will be review as well. On IXL there are some skills with a star that will help the students this week.

 

Tomorrow we will take the Chapter 1 Social Studies test. Chapter 1 was all about geography of the United States.

 

Tomorrow the students will visit the mobile library at school. They will be allowed to check out a book that will remain in the classroom for them to read. Please encourage your student to choose a book that will hold their interest and they will finish. Students are responsible for mobile library books. They should not be letting other students borrow them and they should not take them home. 

 

Thank you to all the families that reached out after receiving progress reports last week. There is still plenty of time for all students to improve their grades before the report card comes out. It would be helpful for parents to continue reminding students to always try their best and pay attention during class time so they don't fall behind. I always encourage students to ask questions but that would be a great reminder as well. If your student did not show you a progress report last week, please as them for it. 

 

Wednesday is Picture Day; order forms went home last week.

10/13- Quarter 1 ends, last day to submit work for Quarter 1 report card.
