Week of 9/18

Good morning,

This week in Language Arts we are working on recognizing synonyms and antonyms, the Greek and Latin roots pre-, re-, post- and fore-, figurative language, and we will also be talking about poetry writing this week. Here are some IXL skills that may help students practice this week if you would like to use it. Since there are so many options, students can pick and choose what they are struggling with :
Synonyms and Antonyms: BB.1, BB.3
Greek and Latin Roots: Y.1, Y.2
Reading Comprehension: M.2
Figurative Language: FF.1
Writing practice: KK.3, KK.5, U.1

In Math this week we're working on dividing. If your student would like extra practice at home on IXL, the division skills that are starred are the ones that go with our lessons this week.

In Social Studies, we will continue working on geography of the United States.

We have transitioned to taking the student's Language Arts assessment on the computer, so students will not have that assessment graded in their Friday Folder this week. Students can log in to their account to see their score. The website is www.hmhco.com. Their username is their student ID number, most students have this memorized because it is their lunch number, but if they don't, please let me know and I can get that to you. Their password is knights.
