Week of May 9th

Good morning!

This week is a busy week for 5th Grade. We have been talking a lot about Science Projects, so we will continue with that this week. I will be conferencing with students today about their project ideas and making sure they are confident in what their idea is. Today students will be given a project summary worksheet that they will complete and turn in by Friday. Final projects are due May 26th.

On Wednesday, May 11th students will be taking the CAASPP Math Performance task. The test starts at 8:30, so it is important that students are present at school and they come on time.

Multicultural Day is coming up on Friday, May 27th. If you are a returning KEY family, you will remember that Multicultural Day is a big day for our school. Students are invited to dress up in their traditional cultural clothing. The Language classes have also been working hard preparing performances. Multicultural Day will take place mostly outside, and then in individual classrooms. Parents are welcome to attend, if you are able, to watch the performances. A potluck in the classrooms follows the performances. Families are invited to make and bring in food dishes from your culture to share with the class. Because of food allergies and restrictions, we ask that you clearly label foods brought in on that day so that students can be informed. Parents are also welcome to come in and help with potluck setup, food serving, and cleanup on that day.
