Happy Friday Families!

This week marked the beginning of buddies program at Key Academy! Around once a month, our class will join together with Mrs. Robin's 6th grade class to practice reading and math skills, create art projects, and engage in team building activities. This time, the class got to read books they chose to their 6th grade buddies and draw pictures of important scenes from the book.

In our own class, we are continuing practicing our letter sounds and introducing grammar concepts. This week we worked on adding inflections onto the end of words, specifically adding on "s" to the ends of verbs like "hits," "runs," and so on. We also read the story "Curious George at School" and learned about how schools were different back in the day. Keep on reading with your kids every night and growth will happen!

We have begun our unit on Subtraction this week. One thing that can really help our students at home is making sure they are not only practicing counting, but counting down as well! Fluency in counting will help them understand breaking down numbers into smaller parts, which will give them an edge when it comes to passing this unit.

Next week, our school will be having spirit week and whichever class has the most participation will get a special surprise from the principal! Monday will be Pajama day, so make sure your kids are coming appropriately dressed. I will be posting the Spirit week schedule in a separate post, but your kids should have brought home a schedule today! Have a great weekend and I hope everyone is as excited for next week as I am!

Educationally,
Mr. Keith
