Week of 9/23

Today we are starting a new math unit. The focus is going to be on dividing two and three digit numbers. The Homework will be from the GoMath Practice Book, p29-30, p31-32, p33-34, p35-36. For the reading, they are working on their spelling packet.

Quick reminder, this Wednesday is picture day!

Take care,
Mr. Keith

Week 9/16

We are reviewing Chapter 1 in math and will be taking a chapter test tomorrow. We are also wrapping up computer testing this week, so make sure we continue to encourage our students. I will be sending out assessment results in the coming week.

This week, students will be expected to finish the Chapter 1 math pages in their workbooks, pages 23-26. The spelling packets have been passed out on Monday.

All homework needs to get done and turned in on Friday. I am changing this because the homework folders coming and going so much was challenging to keep up, and then some students would forget to bring them because they were working at home.

Tomorrow is our school's Chuck E. Cheese fundraiser. Come by after school and proceeds will be donated to KEY Academy. I will be there for a little while, too, so I will see you all there!

Take care,
Mr. Keith

Week 9/9

Howdy everybody!
It’s week four and I hope you’re ready for more! At the end of the day Thursday, the mobile bike repair company is coming by our school. Bring your old bikes if they need spare parts or a tune up. It’s a first come first serve basis, so try to be the first one. It starts at 2:45pm.

Students are required to bring headphones to school for computer usage. Please take some time to make sure your student has headphones.

Homework this week will be the spelling packet received Monday (hopefully) and P15-22 in the GoMath Standards Practice Book.

There are portions of the math asking to estimate first, I’ve told the students to try it, but not to spend too much time on it. What is more important is making sure their method of solving is getting them to the correct answer.
Any questions, send me a message here. Take care y’all!
Mr Keith

Welcome 2024-2025 Fifth Graders!

I hope this post finds you well. It is my distinct pleasure to be one of the three fifth grade teachers this year, alongside Ms. Jordan and Mr. Gurmukh. I am excited to meet and greet the students today and look forward to meeting you all parents in the near future.

Here are a few expectations for the class:
I expect all students to show up in a timely manner. I expect all students to come to school prepared to learn. If they are not fed breakfast at home, I expect them to have eaten the school breakfast provided before coming into class. I expect students to adhere to the dress code outlined in the Student/Parent Handbook. Each day is a new opportunity, so let us give our students the best chance for success!

At school, students are expected to behave according to the rules and procedures outlined in the Student/Parent Handbook. I will aid students in making sure they have the materials needed for class, but we can be proactive and make sure we also have brought the designated supplies for students. The Class Supply Lists will tell parents exactly what is needed for both their core classroom and language classroom, as well.

I will post here occasionally to give updates on what is happening in and around the school, but also I will be sending home paper handouts as well. Here's to having a great school year!

Enthusiastically,
Mr. Keith
