Hello! My name is Lauren Dascole. I am excited to be returning to KEY Academy this year! I will be teaching sixth grade this year. I am looking forward to getting to know my students and their families this year. While this is my sixth year teaching at KEY, this is my fourteenth overall year teaching. I have taught all grades from 1st to 6th. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and helping my students achieve their dreams and academic success. Some fun facts about me: I love the New York Mets, the Golden State Warriors and anything Disney. In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies, bowling and hanging out with family and friends.

Snack Donations

Hello families. If possible, please think about donating snacks for our students. I am recommending that this year if you are able to donate snacks that you bring individually packaged items so that each student will have his or her own snack, and I will not have to hand out items from a shared bag of food.

Just a reminder some of our students cannot eat pork, gelatin, or nuts - so please avoid these items if you are willing to donate. Any help will be appreciated!  Thank you. Ms. Lauren

Homework Club

Hello families. Homework Club starts tomorrow, 9/13, from 3:15 to 4:15 PM. Please tell your student or me if your child will be attending homework club.  Homework Club runs Monday through Thursday and is a free service for you so your student can get homework help.

Back to School Night - Tuesday 9/14

Hello families! We are having Back to School Night on Tuesday, 9/14, from 5 to 6:15 P.M. in person at school and from 6:15 to 7 PM on Zoom. If you are not comfortable coming to the school or cannot make it to school before 6, you can join me on Zoom for the same presentation I will give in person. I will send home the information sheets with your student on Wednesday if you cannot make it. I would love to meet everyone this Tuesday and am looking forward to working with all of you this year!

If you need my Zoom information, please send a note with your student either tomorrow or Tuesday or email me at [email protected] and I will make sure you have the information. I hope to see everyone in person or on Zoom on Tuesday evening.

First week of Homework and update

Homework

We will begin homework this week of Sept. 6, 2021.  Starting at the end of September, students will have two options to complete homework; until then, students will need to do a paper packet. One option is completing a paper packet. The other will be to complete one skill for math and one for language arts on IXL. The IXL skills will be starred on the website as recommended by your teacher. All students are to complete the spelling homework. If you have any questions, you can email me at [email protected].

Pre-register students for COVID testing

Hello families. We will begin our COVID testing this Friday, September 3rd.  Today, 8/31, a yellow packet with information about how to register was sent out - please check your students' backpacks for this packet, and pre-register your child for his or her test on Friday, 9/3. You can register them today, tomorrow, Thursday, or Friday morning before school. If you have any questions, please reach out to the office or email me.

First day of school is almost here!

First day of school is Monday, August 30th. We will be at our new campus - the Old Cherryland Campus at 585 Willow Ave. in Hayward. The first two days will be minimum days, and the rest of the week will be regular schedule. Please make sure your student has their mask, school supplies, and is at school by 8:10. Class begins at 8:15.
