Students that would like to raise their quarter 2 grades may complete extra credit over Winter Break.
ELA - Write a 5-paragraph essay using the different topic sentence types. The essay should be on the topic of holidays. Students need to pick a holiday (Christmas, Kwanzaa, Eid, Easter, Hanukkah, Diwali, etc.) and describe the origins and practices of the holiday.
Math - Students need to pick a topic that has been taught in class. Students will create a poster that can be put in the room that explains the topic and includes examples of how to solve problems as well as any tips and tricks students can use related to the topic.
History - Students can pick one of the areas we have studies (Ancient India, Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Kush, Ancient Sumer) and create an advertisement to entice ancient citizens to live there. Advertisements may be either a brochure, a video, or a commercial. Students need to include: geographical features, resources, types of housing, political order, money/trade, and any other enticing features. Students will need to present this after the break.
Science - Students can pick one topic we have studied (Plate Tectonics, Weathering, Soil, Erosion) and create a 3D model that represents an aspect of the topic (i.e. the horizons of soil). Students will need to present this after the break.
