Math lesson 4.3, Multiplying Decimals. Today student's have to multiply whole numbers by decimals.

Reading Log. This week, the students have a different reading log than normal. They still need to read 30 minutes per night, and now they have to write reading responses 5 nights a week. This reading log will be due after the Fall break on Monday, December 1st.

Over the Thanksgiving break, the students will not have too much homework. They are to read for at least 30 minute and complete a reading log for 4 days. They have a short reading comprehension assignment where they are to read the article about sharks and answer the questions.They also have a page with 15 math problems that are decimal addition and subtraction review. They can solve these problems the way they feel most comfortable. Both are due the Monday after the break as well as the reading log they are completing this week (the week of November 17).

Spelling Test Friday!

Grammar- homographs. Students have a worksheet with sentences to read that have homographs, words that are spelled the same but have different meanings.

Math Chapter 3 review packet. We are taking a math text tomorrow, so the students should complete the math packet tonight for homework as review of some of the more difficult lessons in the chapter. Students should also study the practice test that they did and we went over in class today. The test tomorrow looks almost identical.

Math Lesson 3.11 Reteach, and lesson 3.12 Choose a Method. In lesson 3.11, students are to create a table or chart that will help them solve a decimal addition or subtraction problem. In lesson 3.12, students are to pick whichever method makes the most sense to them, and solve the decimal addition and subtraction problems.

Every Monday the students will bring home a reading log. They must read for a minimum of 30 minutes a night and compete one reading response every night Monday-Friday. The reading response prompts are stapled to the back of the reading log. They are asked to completely answer the question on a separate sheet of paper and staple their responses to the back of their reading logs. Please remind your child that one sentence will not completely answer the question :) Reading logs are due Mondays.

Every Monday your child will bring home new spelling words and a list of spelling strategies to complete. Your student must complete one spelling strategy every night Monday-Thursday for a total of 4 spelling strategies per week. Spelling homework is due every Friday, and the students will have a spelling test every Friday.
