Welcome to the first grade! My name is Mr. Jesus, and I am thrilled to be your teacher this year! It’s going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventure. I was raised on the south side of Chicago and after graduating from high school I enlisted in the marine corps. Upon leaving the Marine Corps. I attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and received my degree in English Literature with a minor in Art history. I have been part of the KEY Academy family for the past seven years and have been teaching first grade for the past five years.

This year your students will be busy learning through hands-on activities, discovery lessons, and performance-based tasks and projects that are all based on the Common Core Standards. Some of the activities that they will participate in will include writer’s workshop, science experiments, literature circles, math centers, reader’s theater, and many more activities!  

I am excited to be your child’s teacher and I look forward to working with all of you throughout the year.
